Jason Holt - Tess
Stats:
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Nature: Human
Occupation: Student; part-time employee of The Daily Grind coffee shop
SPECIAL NOTE: Jason is a TPC (Temporarily Playable Character,) meaning that while you cannot get him into a romance or send him on any other adventures, it's perfectly acceptable to write for him when your character is ordering in The Daily Grind or having a 'hi, how's it going' casual chit-chat with Jason somewhere. If it's something he'd remember or consider important, though-- contact me and I'll write him with your character.
ALSO: Jason is now an adoptable character, as are Mary and Moose. If you adopt Jason, co-ownership of The Daily Grind will transfer to you, for so long as you remain an active player. If you quit the game, or become an inactive player according to the Disappearance Policy, both character and business will revert to Council control.
Appearance: Jason is a handsome boy, reaching his full growth at 6 feet, 160 lbs, with wavy brown hair and dark brown eyes. His features are a blend of his parents' own, though he missed out on his mother's freckles. He doesn't feel slighted by that.
Personality: Jason's a typical American teenage boy. He's a decent student, and a good kid. Sometimes, he can be a little rambunctious or snarky, and he's not above getting into minor trouble here and there. He's got a good work ethic, and he's naturally compassionate, so the character-lessons his parents dispense have had their desired effect. Like most well-raised kids in the South, he says "Sir" and "Ma'am" automatically to anyone older, opens doors for others, and generally practices the courtesies that aren't so common anymore.
History: Jason is his parents' only child. He's never known a day of want, though they are far from wealthy. He's had a normal, happy childhood so far, uneventful except for routine emergencies like an appendectomy and a broken arm from a skateboard stunt gone wrong.
From infancy, he's spent a lot of hours at The Daily Grind, so the shop is literally another home for him. He worked for additions to his allowance before, but now that he's legal for employment, he's officially on the payroll.
His skills as a barista would make a Starbuck's manager green with envy. At this point, however, his future plans don't include taking over the shop one day, though he does intend to marry eventually and give his mother at least the one grandchild he vowed he'd produce!
Abilities: Jason can make any type of non-alcoholic coffee drink known to man, at light speed. His passion, though, is for photography. Jason's been taking pictures since he got a toy 110 camera at five, but never thought he had any sort of artistic talent until he got a good digital camera for his last birthday. He's already won a small local photography contest, and has placed in a national one. He intends to make this his life's vocation.
Weaknesses: Jason would deny this to his last breath, but he's more than a little spoiled. He's not a brat, but he's used to getting his own way and for everything under the sun to be done to make him happy and to give him whatever he wants. Once he moves out from under Mom and Dad's wings, he's going to get a rude awakening to what the real world thinks about his place in it.
Quirks: Whether it's a quirk of nature, or quiet adolescent rebellion, Jason loathes the taste of both coffee and tea. He usually drinks some sort of iced herbal tea, because he both likes the taste and it makes his Mom bonkers to find the residue tainting one of her pots. At the moment, Black Cherry and Red Zinger are his favorites.
Weapons: None, though Jason is well aware of the Home Defender shotgun behind the counter under the cash register, and his Dad taught him to safely use it, though his dad also made it clear he would prefer Jason to remove himself and his mother from any danger rather than start spraying lead around.
Family:
Moses "Moose" Holt, father
Mary Rose Holt, mother
Vehicle: Jason was given a 1998 Ford Taurus when he passed his driving test on his 16th birthday. Being a frugal guy, he still uses his bicycle and skateboard around town. Hard to find parking, anyhow, in tourist season. Having a car, though, sure makes asking a girl out less intimidating. Who wants to go out with a guy whose Mom has to drive them around?
Home: Jason lives with his parents in a modest 3 bedroom mid-century ranch on a pleasant street near the shop.
