Posting Etiquette
We appreciate and value the enthusiasm of all our players, but please, don't repost your sections over and over, every few minutes. This makes the thread confusing, very hard to follow and difficult to post to.
When there are more than two people in a thread, notice how we take turns. For example, the thread rhythm is Sally, Linda, Cathy. As soon as Sally posts, then Linda knows it's her turn. When Linda posts, then Cathy takes her turn responding to what both Sally and Linda posted last. If Sally doesn't post right away, then Linda and Cathy wait to post anymore until Sally returns. It doesn't matter if the wait is a few minutes or a few days-- you don't repost until it's your turn.
We adore this game and hope everyone finds it more fun than TV and video games-- but people do have lives away from their keyboards. Sometimes it may be a week or more till a thread can move forward, when more than two people are posting, and that's perfectly ok.
The only time it is ok to repost is if you've been waiting on a reply for more than a week, and have seen the other people in the thread posting elsewhere on the list during that time. Then it's ok to repost, with an OOC note along the lines of "I thought this might have gotten lost, so I'm reposting." Repost only once, please. If you still get no reply within a week or two, contact the other people in the thread off list by private email.
Again, give it two weeks before reposting, and only repost if the other people are posting elsewhere to other threads in that time.

Joint Posts and Playing in Instant Messages
As the game grew, some habits became problems that weren't any trouble earlier. This requires us to make adjustments and new rules as situations arise that we hadn't anticipated at first. Joint posts and playing via IM are an example of this.
There is nothing wrong with either one, and when the game consisted of less than half a dozen players, they caused no real problem. Now, however, the game has grown to a size where that is no longer the case.
Please remember, from this point onward, that if something doesn't happen ON THE LIST, it did not happen at all. We know it's a pain to collate long joint posts or IM logs to get them ready to post to the list, and we all have limits on our game time. But it's not fair to other players to have important events take place "off-camera" and then be presented to the game as a done deal.
It's fine to post an OOC bit of explanation, such as "so-and-so did whatever they did off camera, and this is what happened" then go on from there. So long as there is some mention of actions and situations on the list itself, then the continuity of the game can roll on unhindered.
We emphasize again that this isn't a ban on joint posts nor on playing via IM. This is a warning that only events posted on lists are in-game reality. This applies as equally to individual character actions as to game-wide events.
