Roux LaFayette - Runninggrass
Gender: Female
Age: 38 Nature: Cat Occupation: Madam Appearance: The first thing that most people notice about Roux is her hair. Long, thick orange locks hang well past her hips unless she braids or coifs it on her head, which is most likely. Even a braid of hair as long and heavy and the color of Roux's catches attention, but it's her eyes, a faded peridot green, that holds that attention to herself. Her eyes are an exotic color, but even so, her look is so warm and inviting, it's hard to even imagine what she'd be like if she were an introvert. |

Roux's body is long and lanky, with heavy, bony hands used to much work. She's on the skinny side of slim, with slight curves and just enough flesh to round out curves that aren't really buxom. Her hips are wider than her shoulders by a few inches, giving her a classical pear shaped body and a swing to her walk that can turn heads on the stiffest necks.
The woman prefers faded greens, sage and dull forest to bring out her hair color and make her eyes seem even paler. She loves corsetry and usually won't leave the house without wearing one, even if it's under, or over, a simple t-shirt. She wears jeans, slacks, dress pants, skirts, just about anything depending on the time of day and her mood. Blacks, greens, the occasional shade of blue and dark purple also make it into her wardrobe.

Shifted Appearance: Roux's fur form is every bit as stunning as her human form. Her eyes being the same color as her shifted eyes was a quirk of her Natural Cat birth, perhaps, or just a quirk of nature. Many cats are described as looking like a tiny tiger, but unlike so many of the "orange" cats, the color of her fur is far richer and luxurious than the bright, yellowish orange that so many cats display. She truly does appear to almost be a tiger in miniature. She has large, chunky paws and a boxy build as a cat, filled out by healthy flesh and a long, thick tail. She really is a beauty.
Personality: Roux is very go-get'm, in yo' face type of woman. She's self made, does what she wants, and takes no guff about her day (or rather night) job from anyone. She brooks no disrespect from anyone, even her Tom, which has resulted in a few spats here and there.
The woman is not above apologizing if she is shown to be wrong and is extremely affectionate. Perhaps it's a tell from being a Cat, but perhaps that's just how she is. Touch is a strong part of her communication pattern, which works very well with her chosen profession. Fingertip brushes, nuzzles, a chaste kiss on the cheek, or a playful shove are all ways that Roux talks. Body language can be understood by anyone, any nationality, any species.
The little tigress is very much a mother hen to the Colony. As one of the only adult women in the group, she is often the softer side of the Tom's disciplinary arm. She sees herself as slightly more morally correct than Taz is, however, as he simply rescues them, but she gives them a future not dependent on hand outs. Not that she would EVER knock what Taz does for the kids. These are THEIR kids, after all, and some of them really do need what Thaddeus has to offer more than her own 'give a man a fishing pole' mentality.
History: Roux was born in Baton Rouge, and while she doesn't have a thick accent, it still comes out sometimes. She was a Natural Born Cat from a pair of Natural Born Cats. Her father didn't know her mother was pregnant when he left, or he might have stayed. Her mother doesn't talk about him much, other than to say he was handsome, and talked about how he was Natural Born like it gave him powers or something. She and her mother have a good laugh over it periodically.
Her childhood was fairly typical. She went to school, slept around when she got old enough, rebelled some, came to her senses, etc. In 2005, at the age of 26, hurricane Katrina literally rocked their world. Their entire house became a glorified boat. Her mother, Donna, and herself had lived scraping by and the loss of their all of their physical assets meant that there was no chance of rebuilding.
While most of the human survivors of the disaster were bused off to Houston in the west, she, Donna and several other shifter families were taken to Atlanta. Donna was accepted immediately on the grounds that she had physical proof of having born a child and though she was old, the woman was still spry.
Roux they put to work on the streets in the roughest neighborhoods to make her 'prove her worth' to the Colony. Prove her worth she did not. She was too headstrong and mouthy to take the crap they tried to put her through. They kicked her out, but refused to let Donna go, giving the older woman a posh apartment and pension. Rumor is, the Tom believes having a woman capable of bearing makes it more likely that other Cats around her will carry to term as well.
Her daughter, however, settled in the nearby eastern town of Stone Mountain where she set up her own Brothel and does her best to take care of the Cats who end up on the streets there.
Abilities: Saves horses. Rides Cowboys. Very good at pretending to be OK in a crowd.
Weaknesses: Stubborn as they come with a touch of temper. Sometimes haughty, especially about her Natural birth.
Quirks: Alcohol makes it hard for her to keep her inner feelings put, so she rarely drinks. Despises being immersed in water and cleans herself thoroughly with cleaning clothes, wipes, and slightly damp rags. She only uses immersion to wash her hair every other day.
Weapons: Baseball bat and a sawed off shot gun under a counter in the foyer of the Three B's. Some consider her rolled up newspaper a weapon as well.
