Owen Smith- Cass
Gender: Male
Age: 47 (b. 1977) Species: Cat Occupation: Head Henchman Appearance: Striking bad boy is a good describes. Owen is rough, often sporting two day old stubble on his face. He is the sort of man who takes up more space than he actually does. He is average height for a man, with very even facial features and a sharp enough to cut jawline. His eyes are a hazel colour and his hair, if he had let what was left of it grow, is dark. He can dress up, and often does, but always tends to keep a certain roughness about himself, no matter the clothes. He doesn’t often smile, and when he does, its usually because things are about to get bloody. Personality: Owen will do anything for his brother. He is quite possibly his only tether on not giving into his darker impulses. He has the potential to be a mass murderer, if he were to lose direction. Without someone to keep him in check- his hands would be dripping in blood. His brother is both his humanity and his weakness. History: Owen is the eldest of identical twins. His twin's name is Ianto and from a very young age, it was apparent that they were two very different children. |
Their parents were a typical, hard working, middle class immigrants from Wales who moved to New York in the hopes of getting big in theatre. There was nothing out of the ordinary in his home life, just an average, every day, family. Owen, however, was far from average. He was a cruel child- the sort who would pluck wings off of flies and torment animals for fun. He was a compulsive thief, and lied about everything to everyone but his brother.
It was the trouble he would get into that brought both him and his brother to the attention of a local dojo owner. It was perhaps a good thing that The Karate Kid was a mainstay of Owen’s viewing that he even decided to stick around and learn from Sensei.
It was from the Sensei that he learnt how to focus his mind, and how to fight quite well. He learned how to bury some of the darker urges beneath the focus of the arts.
Learning from the Sensei didn’t stop him from getting into trouble, or dragging Ianto into it with him. He was fourteen when he was bitten by a cat he was tormenting. He got hellishly sick, but survived the bite to become a Cat. It was after he realised what had happened, that he deliberately infected his twin. He isn’t sure if Ianto has forgiven him for that- but a part of him doesn’t care.
He quit school, started spending more and more time with the other cats. He was a violent force of nature who quickly worked his way up to be a weapon- even as his brother made their parents happy by finishing school and going to college to study education. It was his brother leaving that made him follow. Without his brother to be near, he felt like he was half a person. He relied on his brother to be his guiding stone and without him he felt adrift. The cat colony could burn in hell, just so long as he had his brother safe.
He landed in Atlanta when his brother settled there. It didn’t take long for him to come to the colony’s attention. He basically had a ‘leave my brother alone and let me indulge in killing and I’m yours’ philosophy. The problem with this was that he had no real loyalty to the Tom. Toms change, but his purpose in life stayed the same. Let his brother live his life, as free from the cat shit as he could be.
