Max Turpin (TPC)- Tess
tats
Gender: Male Age: 77 Nature: Human Occupation: Boxing trainer at Ground & Pound Gym. Appearance: Max (Maximilian, but that's only been used on his birth certificate) looks every day of sixty-seven of his seventy-seven years. His blue eyes are sunken beneath ungroomed 'old man' eyebrows, his beard scruff is nearly white, and his hair is far more salt than pepper, though it used to be such a dark brown it almost appeared black. He's 6' 1", without a hint of a stoop, and maintains a lean, athletic physique... he can still take his shirt off in public, but as someone said of Jack Lalanne at about the same age, nobody really wants him to. Gravity takes its toll, even on the skin over over a six-pack belly. |

Personality: Max looks like a tough, rough character. On first acquaintance, he is. But he's a kind, decent man with the charm and true charisma of a born teacher and motivator. Once he decides you're worth investing time into, he'll open up and you'll see his sardonic, wry sense of humor and his compassion. You'll also find that he truly is tough as nails and he's gruff with anyone who wastes his time by not seriously committing to the training they claim to want. Max doesn't understand those who mouth intentions and goals, but who fail purely because they don't do the work necessary to attain what they said they wanted. If you physically can't, he's the soul of understanding and accommodation. If you simply won't, he'll boot your behind out of his ring or class. No refunds, no returns.
History: Birthdate Dec. 4, 1940. Born of a Wolf father and a human mother, he's one of the hybrid ten percent who never shift, and are thus considered to be immune to the Lycanthropy virus. As Max has matured past his prime, he's begun to realize that might not be quite the full extent of his heritage. Sure, he's aged, nobody will mistake him for his thirty year old self, but physically he's still almost as vigorous now as he was then. Which has shocked a lot of brash young fighters who sneer at an invitation to spar with the old decrepit trainer.
Max had a good childhood in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up listening to prize fights on the radio with his dad, and when he got older, he began going to bouts with him like most boys accompanied their fathers to watch the Cubs. When Max hit full adolescence, he began to train with serious intent. Unfortunately for him, but fortunately for generations of young fighters to come, Max found he simply didn't have that indefinable something that would make him a champion. He also discovered that his real gift lay in motivating and training other fighters. In retrospect, the career he didn't deliberately choose from the start has been longer-lasting and more satisfying than any award belt.
Max eventually wound up in Georgia, when he decided he didn't want to shovel his car out of one more damn snowbank. From Atlanta, he migrated to Stone Mountain, as he's drawn to shifters in general, and is considered a Friend of the Stone Mountain Pack, with all privileges that a nonshifter could participate in.
He has no plans to retire. Max is a man who will die in the ring someday. Everyone will say 'he died doing what he loved,' and they'll be absolutely correct.
Home: Apartment in Stone Mountain, within easy walking distance of the gym.
Vehicle: 1971 Harley-Davidson hard tail chopper, metal flake burgundy and chrome. He's owned it since 1971.
Please note: Max is a limited TPC. That means that you can have him train you at the Ground & Pound, or you can strike up a conversation with him anywhere, without involving Tess-- but for more than that, please contact her. Thanks!
