Matthias "Matt" Reed- Tess
Stats:
Gender: Male Age: 19 Nature: Bear Occupation: Construction worker Appearance: At 6' and 160 lbs, it is obvious Matthias still has quite a bit of filling out to do. Like many young male bears, he probably will not reach his full adult height and weight until he is around twenty-five. As it is, he seems tall and lanky, loose as if he were tied together with rubber bands instead of ligaments. He has even features, with dark brown eyes, a straight nose, bold brows, and lips that male teen idols usually get with injections. His hair is dark brown with reddish highlights, and is rather haphazardly cut to fall to his shoulders in back, curling on the ends. Matt's hair is one of those parental battles his mother Callisandra has decided not to fight. |

He favors his father physically a great deal, a fact that he knows both saddens and comforts his mother.
Shifted Appearance: Matt shows more of lanky adolescence in fur than he does in skin. He has almost reached his adult height, but it is certain that he will continue to add many pounds of muscle in the next few years to reach his full growth.
Personality: Matt is a normal teenage boy who also happens to be a grizzly bear. His basic nature is sunny, honorable and trustworthy, but he still gets a bit of the devil in him at times and can be swayed to do something rather foolish with enough pressure from his peers. He thinks he's got a mature head on his shoulders now, and in many ways he's right. In just as many, he's still a kid and will realize that from the distance of five or ten more years.
History: Born into the Stone Mountain Den, Matt was a precocious child, petted and doted upon, but perhaps a little spoiled and over-protected. His father died when he was still a newborn, so he has misses having a father more in an abstract sense than the very real anguish and grief that his mother endures. As he grew, however, he had no lack of positive role models among the males of the Den, so Callie's tendencies towards extreme motherhood were tempered to a good degree.
As he has matured, she has loosened the apron strings, if not entirely cut the umbilical cord. This was aided by Matt's own insistence upon independence, starting when he was barely talking. His first words were "Mama," "No!" and "Me do it!" Matt feels he's fully mature and ready to make his own way now, but he isn't quite as ready as he thinks. He still turns to Callie for a lot of his support and to help make major decisions, whether he chooses to realize that or not.
He's helping earn his own way now, working with the Den's construction business. His immediate plans may or may not include college. He really likes the construction trades best, but hasn't decided on a specialty. A electrician's license may be in his future, however, as that's the part of the job that fascinates him most.
So far, he's not gotten serious about any particular female, though he knows it's not out of the question. His mother gave birth to him before her 20th birthday, after all.
Abilities: Matt has a quick mind and can learn a complicated process by watching it done once or twice.
Weaknesses: He's still a bit too emotionally tied to his mother's guidance and the security she represents. He's also a bit spoiled, and has never really been thwarted in anything he wanted to do.
Quirks: Matt is a decent amateur contact juggler and can be found playing with any spherical object that happens to be lying around. When he's really showing off, he'll contact juggle a 10 lb. kettlebell, though he favors a clear acrylic gazing ball.
Weapons: Matt has never been in a real fight or a physically hostile situation, but would most likely use his strength and fists or his grizzly accouterments. He has learned how to handle a gun safely, however.
Family: Callisandra Reed- Mother
Vehicle: Instead of a car, Matt bought a beater of a 1983 Yamaha Virago. (Over the vigorous protests of his mother, it must be noted) The bike runs well now, but is still far from the vision of mechanical beauty that Matt intends it to be.
