Jamie (James Donovan) Talbain- Tess
Gender: Male
Age: 32 Nature: Cougar Birthdate: May 22, 1985 Occupation: Mechanic, both senses of the word Appearance: Jamie is Donovan's identical twin, in both an actual and a very weird way, but the difference-- like the devil-- is in the details. When Jamie has control of their shared body, Van's demeanor and habitual expressions disappear. While Van moves with a balanced, athletic elegance, Jamie has the limber, loose movement of a predatory animal. Jamie's default expression is a near-permanent scowl, and he tends to present an edgier appearance all around. He's a dangerous man and his appearance reflects that fact. Truth in advertising. |

Unlike his brother's educated, region-free speech patterns, Jamie has a strong Irish brogue and tends to be sloppier with the niceties of grammar.
Personality: Jamie skirts the edge of sociopathy, with occasional forays in towards the middle, and his brother suspects Jamie showed signs of mental illness from infancy. Jamie has a firm grip on reality, but his experience of the world is limited and colored by faulty brain wiring and the resentments and fears deeply embedded by the bizarre way he has existed from the age of six until very recently.
He is amoral, as is his brother, but unlike Donovan, Jamie displays little sense of mercy and less of honor. He operates from an entirely practical, and entirely self-centered, world view. He can be as unpredictable as lightning, switching from loving affection to murderous rage with an almost schizophrenic rapidity.
There are very few people in his life who can rest assured they are safe from his rages, but there are indeed some. On the plus side of the ledger, Jamie is extremely intelligent, and can learn almost by osmosis. He does have a sense of humor and the ability as well to laugh at himself. He loves Donovan with absolute devotion (which is returned by his brother full-measure) and is beginning to love others as well, or at least, an emotion as close to love as he's able of expressing.
History: The son of Donagh and Tieve Talbain, Jamie's life was never normal. Being an identical twin set him apart, as did having parents deeply involved with the Irish Preternatural Removal movement. He and Donovan struggled for dominance as children, fighting frequently and often viciously, but at the same time they were so closely bound together that they finished each others sentences and when one fell, the other felt the skinned knee.
The twins refused to speak more than a handful of words before they were almost three, but babbled away to each other in a private language since the age of 18 months. At the age of six, Jamie and Donovan accidentally tripped an incendiary device that their parents built in their home's spare room/bomb lab. Their mother died in the resulting explosion and inferno. Their father had walked out to go to the corner pub moments before disaster struck his family, and he never returned. The boys were blown out of the house by the initial blast, to land in rain-saturated shrubbery and grass-- probably the only reason they survived.
Both were badly injured, though Jamie suffered the worst wounds by far. He suffered third degree burns over most of his body and was a quadriplegic. He quickly lapsed into a 'locked-in' coma. The nurses allowed the boys to stay in the same bed when it was discovered that Jamie's vitals dipped whenever Donovan was removed from his side. By the time Donovan was able to be released, Jamie was stable enough to tolerate his brother's absence. Donovan was removed, kicking and screaming-- and a unique twist formed to their bond.
Jamie stayed with Donovan, mentally, and Donovan was willing to 'step aside' and let his brother experience life at times through Donovan's flesh and bone. He also shared in the methodical violence of Donovan's life, and found some release for his frustration and rage in the acts of mercenary homicide.
Donovan's first plan after being taken into the Stone Mountain Pack was have Jamie put on a private medical transfer flight to the States. His intention was to infect, and cure, Jamie with lycanthropy. Men make their plans, and Fate laughs....
Between his care facility and the airport, Jamie was kidnapped by a cabal of co-conspirators with the Asian Vampires, and infected with Cougar lycanthropy. He was intended to infiltrate the Stone Mountain Base and steal the prototype of the anti-vampire weapon. Jamie never does as he's told.
Abilities: Utter ruthlessness and utter practicality can be a strength or a weakness, depending on the situation. Jamie learns with awesome ease, and displays the same physical prowess as his brother, though he had not had the extensive martial arts training Van endured and has maintained. A lack Jamie is remedying as quickly as possible.
Weaknesses: Jamie has a mercurial personality, as intriguing and poisonous as the heavy metal. He doesn't play well with others. Yet. Maybe ever. Shares his brother's vulnerability to silver.
Quirks: Cannot bear to be tied or confined so that he doesn't have use of his limbs, especially to a bed. An odd quirk, since the dominance and submission of BDSM appeals to him otherwise. He is also a touch claustrophobic. Both phobias manifest in anger and the tendency to strike out violently, rather than in the more usual panic reactions. Could eat his weight in peppermint ice-cream and die a happy man.
Character song: My Name Is Mud, Primus
Weapons: Like his brother, Jamie carries a Semmerling LM4 .45 hold-out pistol like most men carry a pen knife. He prefers a Glock 22 .40 as his main handgun. Also like his brother, at all times and in all places, this boy has a weapon of some sort. Unlike his brother, he's much more likely to use it to settle a temporary problem permanently.
